About The Founder
Hannah Fink is an industrial designer, metalworker, and the founder of Somato. She holds a Master’s in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute, where her thesis explored how fitness equipment could be reimagined to look and feel like furniture-- blending seamlessly into the home.
Somato began as a personal need and a design challenge: after a rugby injury in her twenties, Hannah was told to find a “lifetime sport” and turned to Pilates. But studio memberships were expensive, the schedules limited, and the home reformers she found didn’t fit her space, her style, or her life. So she built her own.
During the pandemic, she prototyped in her garage and poured her savings into redesigning the Pilates reformer from the ground up-- a story that’s resonated with millions online. One viral reel summed it up: “Girl math is spending your life savings on redesigning the Pilates reformer so you can save $300 a month on classes.”
Hannah’s work bridges form and function, merging a lifelong love of movement with a deep understanding of how design can empower daily routines. With Somato, she’s not just rethinking fitness equipment, she’s rethinking the role it plays in our homes and lives.
